Abstract:
Exposure to microgravity leads to a number of negative changes in the sensory-motor system. One of the countermeasure approaches under these conditions is the application of axial weight loading. The study presents the results of assessing the efficacy of axial loading using the “Penguin” suit (Russian onboard countermeasure mean) in a ground-based model of microgravity - a 5-day Dry Immersion. It was shown that axial loading reduced the severity of back pain, prevented changes in muscle tone and the speed-strength properties of the back and thigh muscles, decreased the vertical balance changes and also prevented the development of spinal hyperreflexia.
